About her as a choreographer
Alyssa Hakan is a choreographer who blends exciting musicality elements and character-driven storytelling. She served as a mainstage choreographer for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at Springfield Little Theatre and Big Fish at Central High School, in addition to choreographing multiple works for Lindenwood University’s dance concerts. She has also served as the tap choreographer at Springfield Little Theatre for The SpongeBob Musical and White Christmas.
Alongside her theatrical work, Alyssa has created choreography for numerous student competition pieces, mentoring young dancers to improve technique and build confidence.
Her newest work will premiere soon at Lindenwood's Spring Dance Concert. “Neighborhood Noise” combines tap, contemporary, and stomp to create a funky and percussive soundscape. Props are used musically by turning daily objects into instruments that drive rhythm. The piece is inspired by the energy of a neighborhood block party and showcases how groove and collaboration can unite a community.
Alyssa enjoys collaborating across theatre and dance and is currently available for choreography bookings for stage productions, film, concerts, and competitive dance.
